Do you ever think about how much time we spend watching life rather than living it? This thought haunts me as I reflect on where I’m at and where I’d like to be.
I remember being a little girl and trying to calculate how old I would be when the year 2000 came. That age has come and went — just crazy!
I also turned the big 5-0 this year, so I’ve passed another milestone. All of this makes me consider how much I’ve let pass me by. I’m asking myself the question, “Are you living life, or watching it?”
I don’t like some of my answer. But being the fresh faith gal that I am, I refuse to cower in a corner and continue poor patterns. I’ve got lots more life to live, whether it’s encompassed in the next few hours or scattered over many more years. What would I do differently if I knew Jesus was returning within the next 24 hours? That’s how I should be monitoring my actions — or inactions.
One thing I can tell you, if I was certain those blue eastern skies were going to split, and I was getting ready to see the King of Kings riding on white billowy clouds, I wouldn’t be sitting on my hands. He’d find me doing something positive, for myself and others. He’d see me working hard for our Father’s business.
Yesterday, I had an inspiration. 2015 is going to be my year of An Experiment in Living More. You can’t believe the list of things I’m actively going to pursue. Jesus promised an abundant life, so why aren’t more of us experiencing it?
I plan to find out where and why I’ve held myself back. If you want to follow along, or even better, do this side-by-side with me, then you’ll want to stay tuned.
This is not a gimmick, this is not a ploy for attention, this is a real, authentic, and totally exposed search for the how and what of living out what God promised. I know it’s me who’s held me back. Can’t blame anyone else. Call it a movement, call me crazy, but in 2015, I’m getting off my couch and LIVING! How about you? Do you want to live more abundantly?
Let’s get brave, let’s choose courage, let’s dare to live MORE! We could experience our best year ever! But we’ll never know if we don’t get up and check it out. Good things don’t happen by accident. We shouldn’t let anyone, including ourselves, steal one more day from us. We get one shot at life on this earth, I’m going to do even more with mine. What will you do with yours?
Are you ready to make a fresh start with fresh faith?
