I’m taking a courageous step today. Doing something I’ve never dared before.
At the end of this post, I’m going to share a makeupless image, reflecting my out of shape figure, immedately after an intense workout. Why?
It’s time to transform myself — and there’s no accountability like taking a few thousand people along for the quest to change my life for the better.
We’ve all watched or heard of makeovers. TV programs abound, with the likes of Extreme Makeover — Home Edition, HGTV Home Makeover, Supernanny, Nanny 911, Heavy, and The Biggest Loser. If a house, a kid, or a body needs rennovation, someone’s willing to let you watch them go through it. But there’s no denying that watching eyes produce amazing results.
So I’m inviting you to tune in on Mondays, and monitor my progress. I’ll share tips, secrets, recipes, challenges, biblical wisdom, gut-wrenching confessions, and more as I strive to improve my physical, mental, and spiritual health. Since I’m nearing the half-century mark, (my July birthday will put me one year out), the task is sure to hurt. But I am determined.
I would love to hear from you as I venture into unchartered territory. Cheerleaders, encouragers, fellow so-journers, wanna-be’s, whoever you are, just know you are welcome. Let’s do this together.
After prayer and much consideration, for me, the process will include Weight Watchers online, (it’s the healthiest way I know to get healthy, and still enjoy life without extreme deprivation). I love the ability to track my points on my smart phone, no matter where I’m at.
So today, here’s how I’m starting out:
- Spiritually — Praying, reading my Bible for insights, and listening to God’s guidance.
- Mentally — Resolving. I know a leader is followed for their example, not by the words they say. I need to show before I tell.
- Physically — Interval Training. For me, the C25K App works great to get started on a good exercise routine. And I already mentioned Weight Watchers as a food diary, something I definitely need.
No attempt to succeed will work without alignment of all three elements I listed above. But with them in balance, I CAN conquer my past mistakes through Christ who strengthens me. Life is too short to waste away. Allowing others to watch me run, stumble, fall, and get back up to walk again, will assure I don’t give up on living my best life possible. At least that’s what I’m counting on.
