Do you know the One who is able to do immeasurably more than you ask, or imagine, according to His power at work within us? (Ephesians 3:20)
I ask this question in my upcoming book, First Hired, Last Fired — How to Become Irreplaceable in Any Job Market.
How we answer, can affect what we’re willing to risk. It can impact how far we go in acting on the things we wish to endeavor. It can mean the difference between dreaming and living our dreams.
- So what are your secret desires?
- What would you like to do with your life, but are afraid to try?
- What made you happy as a child?
- What do you see others accomplishing that makes you twinge with a hint of jealousy?
- What comes so naturally that you assume it’s no big deal, and anyone could do it?
Answering these questions could help you unearth your gifts and talents so you can become the person you were meant to be. It is possible, at any age, any stage, in any place, at any time, to step into the life you want at the deepest core of your soul. To stop dreaming, and begin living your dream.
You were born with special abilities, unique traits, and one-of-a-kind life experiences. A blend of intentional ingredients designed to make you succeed in that one higher purpose you are made to fulfill. But you must act, or your talents go to waste.
Who wants to come to the end of their life thinking, What If? This was one of the mindsets that helped me finally pursue my own personal dream of becoming a writer. Throughout the multi-year journey it took to reach publication, I felt like giving up many times. But hanging onto the promise in Ephesians 3:20 pushed me through. And getting to know the Author of that scripture gave me confidence to keep on keeping on when I wanted to quit.
Whatever our dreams, knowing we aren’t alone, and that we are infused with power beyond anything we can imagine, can help us achieve anything. Taking the courage to believe, is the first step in getting started.
