I don’t always like the feeling when I exercise, but I love the feeling of having exercised! I don’t always like the feeling of writing an article, blog, or book, but I love the feeling of having written!
These are hard truths about doing anything good for us, and potentially helpful to others. I imagine author, Jordyn Redwood, must have experienced some of these contrasting feelings while penning the first two books in her Bloodline Trilogy, Proof and Poison.
I’m happy to report that Poison not only delivers interesting tidbits, unearths deep human struggles, but also offers even greater suspense than the first book. I was pulled into the plot on page one. It felt much like Frank Peretti’s classic novel, This Present Darkness.
Reading a novel teaches us differently than absorbing a non-fiction work. Stories can reach us at an intrinsic level, that soul place where emotions and thoughts meet. This is what Poison did for me. There were gut-wrenching moments where the characters thought, felt, and spoke things that puzzle me.
I got an insiders look at the human conflicts between members of different law enforcement agencies.
And Ms. Redwood took me to the finish line as she delved into an intriguing question, without asking the question. “Do demons exist today?” She kept me guessing in how her plot would answer the mystery for Keelyn, her protagonist, until the end. (No spoilers here, you must read this fascinating book for yourself.)
In conclusion, one thing I always know. Learning can be fun, especially when you crawl into a well written story. When it comes to Jordyn Redwood’s Poison, I can say I enjoyed the reading, as much I enjoy the feeling of having read.
